Another Kyiv transport facility modernized with AFC system

On July 1st 2013 turnstiles at the Borschahivska Light Rail Line serviced by city transport operator KYIVPASTRANS were modernized as new validation equipment for single ride paper tickets with “friend-or-foe” identification technology and protection against re-use was installed.

Being the developer and manufacturer of this AFC (Automated Fare Collection) system “CARD-SYSTEMS” has supervised installation of the validation function for contactless “Kievite Card”.

This modernization is identical to the ones realized in October 2012 on Troeschyna Light Rail Line and in May 2013 on several bus routes of KYIVPASTRANS.

This is clearly another important step on the way of Kyiv’s land-based public transport transition to a new single-ride payment standard.

The innovative dual protection technology limits significantly the possibility of unauthorized ride with either fake or used ticket. New single ride tickets are available for purchase at the ticket offices of three structural subdivisions of “Kyivpastrans”. Introduction of new electronic validators proved to be immediately beneficial for the Borschahivska and Troeshyna Light Rail Line as well as for Bus division #6 as their revenue raised by 5-7% while the need for controlling personnel reduced significantly due to the much smaller figure of free riders.
